Nutritional IV Drip Therapy

Offered at our convenient location in Hamburg

Nutritional IV Drip Therapy, also called intravenous micronutrient therapy, is a method of delivering a high dosage of vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream. After the insertion of a needle into your arm, nutrients in liquid form are slowly infused into your body from an IV bag. Rather than relying on the digestive system to process nutrients, IV drip therapy can provide the benefits of these nutrients much faster and more efficiently.

Depending on the infusion used, you can find relief from the flu, fatigue, migraines, muscle cramps, brain fog, and more. Many drips have immune-boosting properties to help you recover from or prevent sickness. Athletes also use IV drip therapy to boost their performance and restore hydration quickly and effectively.

At Plastische Chirurgie am Klostersetern in Hamburg, we offer IV drip therapies with various micronutrient formulas to cater to your individual needs and have you feeling your best. Dr. Dalia Tobbia has completed 2 fellowships related to lymphatic health and has contributed to 10 lymphatic science publications. She thoroughly understands the immune system and its relation to nutrients that may be lacking in our diets. About Nutritional IV Drip Therapy

In 1832, Dr. Thomas Latta was the first to implement the use of an IV drip by injecting saline into cholera patients to help resolve their dehydration. Since then, IV drips have been used to treat a multitude of conditions; usually, they are used to transfer blood or medication.

In the 1970s, Dr. John A. Myers discovered that IV administration of various vitamins and minerals was effective at relieving symptoms of migraines, asthma, fatigue, allergies, and muscle spasms. He created the “Myers drip”, a formulation of electrolytes, B vitamins, and vitamin C. (1) The Myers drip infusion is still used today and is even offered here at our Klosterstern praxis.

IV Drip Options

We continue the legacy of Myers’ research by providing patients with various infusion formulas targeting different ailments. We carefully review your overall health to ensure each IV drip matches your nutritional needs

Hydration Drip

The hydration drip is the base of all of our IV formulations. It is comprised of 1 liter of fluid and electrolytes. If you have experienced vomiting, diarrhea, heat sickness, or are simply an athlete that experiences dehydration, a simple hydration drip can restore the balance of water in the body. The human body is made up of mostly water, so it is a vital component for every bodily function.

What Are Electrolytes?

Electrolytes are essential minerals that allow water to be transported efficiently through the body and excreted through urine at a healthy rate. Without them, muscles and nerves would not function normally– too little of these minerals can cause seizures, heartbeat irregularities, confusion, and fatigue. (2)

Meyers Drip

The Meyers drip is the original IV treatment that started it all. This drip has been known to alleviate a number of conditions such as acute asthma attacks, migraines, fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome), fibromyalgia, acute muscle spasms, upper respiratory tract infections, chronic sinus infections, and seasonal allergies. Preparation and Procedure

To prepare for IV drip therapy, Dr. Tobbia will check your vital signs and review your medical history. She will also require a few blood tests to make sure that it is safe for you to receive treatment. She will make any necessary adjustments to your medications to ensure they do not interfere with how you process the vitamins.

On the day of your appointment, you will be seated in a comfortable treatment chair. A nurse will disinfect your arm before placing a butterfly needle. This needle will be attached to a plastic bag with the IV formula of your choice. The bag will administer the infusion to you slowly. Your session will take anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour, so we advise that you bring something to read or watch.

Candidates

IV drip therapy is not meant to cure anything besides specific vitamin and mineral deficiencies. If you suffer from asthma, COPD, chronic fatigue syndrome, muscle spasms, an autoimmune disorder, or a disorder that prevents nutrition absorption, our infusions can provide you with relief from some of the symptoms of these chronic conditions.

They can also work well for those who are fighting a bacterial or viral illness since the extra vitamins and minerals can boost your immune system and help you to recover faster. Continue to take any doctor-prescribed medications when healing from any illness; IV therapy should only be used to supplement medical treatments, not replace them.

Finally, the average patient can take advantage of these therapies as part of a healthy lifestyle. Many patients report better mental focus, more energy, improved sleep patterns, and even relief from hangovers.

Personal Consultation

Dr. Tobbia’s expertise in lymphatic health makes her the perfect choice for your nutritional IV therapy. During a consultation, she will assess your symptoms and any related condition/s. She will then assess your overall health and prescribe IV drip therapy if she believes you will benefit from the treatment. Dr. Tobbia is dedicated to providing patients with quality care that matches their wellness needs and desires, so additional treatments may be required.

FAQ

Can nutritional IV drip therapies be harmful?

Certain medications can interfere with the effects of IV therapy. For example, if you are taking cardiac medication, extra magnesium can cause a drop in blood pressure. IV therapy is extremely safe provided a doctor reviews your medications and assesses your health thoroughly beforehand. IV therapy only uses water-soluble vitamins and minerals, so your body can safely expel these substances without side effects.

When will I notice the results of IV drip therapy?

You will likely feel the effects of hydration instantly, such as improved mood and alertness, but some vitamins and minerals may take longer to provide a noticeable effect. Once these substances are in your bloodstream, it may take a few days for your body to utilize them in your bodily processes.

How often can I get IV drip therapy?

If you have a chronic health condition that impedes your ability to absorb nutrients, you may benefit from weekly infusions. For some people, the effects last for several weeks and they may only need them once a month or less.
