About Facial Fat Transfer
Fat grafting is a two-stage procedure that is performed on the same day: First, the fat is harvested from an unwanted area. After that, it is injected into the desired location. The concept here is that the transferred fat will receive blood supply from the local tissues and remain in place as natural fat tissue in the face. The results look and feel natural and are therefore superior to temporary injectable substances as long as it is performed in a minimalistic and delicate manner.
It is not a substitute for a facelift, if the patient has advanced aging in the face, and in fact it can be used in combination with a facelift to replace volume loss. This is a time-consuming process because the fat must first be harvested in a delicate manner and processed before it is injected meticulously in small volumes after the face lift to achieve a perfect result.
Fat Transfer Procedures Have Many Advantages
- The harvested fat is a natural substance and comes from your own body therefore the results are long lasting with a very natural feel and appearance.
- This method results in very minimal scarring because the fat is both harvested and injected through very tiny incisions.
- Fat is injected gradually and in small quantities, making it a very precise method to correct deep wrinkles or loss of volume from aging.

Post Operative Care
The wounds resulting from this procedure are tiny and are discreetly placed. Return to normal activities can be expected within 1 week. However, strenuous physical activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks. Patients are advised to avoid direct sun exposure or extreme heat during the first 2-3 weeks.
