Exosomes for Hair Restoration

Offered at our convenient location in Hamburg

Hair restoration with exosomes is an exciting and innovative treatment that helps patients restore their natural hair growth. Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles that contain numerous growth factors and are responsible for intercellular communication, tissue repair, and wound healing. Emerging studies suggest that exosomes may support hair follicle activity and scalp health.

If you are ready to restore your hair, Plastische Chirurgie am Klosterstern can help you achieve your goals. Led by Dr. Dalia Tobbia, our practice has helped patients throughout Europe with advanced solutions.

About Exosomes for Hair Restoration

Hair loss is a widespread condition that affects both men and women, with most patients experiencing loss in the form of male or female pattern baldness, also known as androgenic alopecia. (1) There are multiple treatments for hair loss, such as oral medications or surgical intervention. We offer exosome therapy for patients interested in a minimally invasive treatment option. Exosomes are small, membrane-bound particles that contain various growth factors, lipids, and other genetic material. Exosomes are often used in regenerative medicine due to the role they play in tissue regeneration and wound healing, as well as intracellular communication.

About the Hair Growth Cycle

The hair growth cycle occurs in four phases: anagen, catagen, telogen, and exogen.

  • Anagen: This is known as the active growth phase, and can last for several years as the hair follicle works to produce the fiber.
  • Catagen: This is a transitional phase where the blood supply to the hair follicle gets cut off.
  • Telogen: This is a resting phase where the hair follicle is dormant, and no growth occurs.
  • Exogen: This is the shedding phase of the hair growth cycle. People shed approximately 100-200 follicles per day. (2)

Benefits

Exosome hair restoration provides numerous advantages. Several key benefits associated with this treatment include:

  • Improved Hair Growth: Exosomes contain powerful growth factors that stimulate dormant hair follicles, encouraging new hair growth.
  • Non-Invasive Treatment: Unlike surgical procedures, exosomes can be administered through minimally invasive techniques, minimizing risks and downtime.
  • Enhanced Scalp Health: The anti-inflammatory properties of exosomes promote a healthier scalp environment, vital for optimal hair growth.
  • Natural Solution: Being derived from natural sources, exosome therapy reduces the risk of allergic reactions or complications often seen with other synthetic alternatives.
  • Quick Procedure: Administering exosomes can typically be done within an hour, allowing for a convenient experience without extensive time commitments.
  • Minimal Recovery Time: Most patients can return to normal activities promptly after treatment, as there is little to no downtime.
  • Boosts Confidence: An increase in hair density and volume can dramatically enhance one’s self-esteem, leading to a greater overall sense of confidence.
  • Long-lasting Results: Results are often gradual; however, with consistent follow-up treatments, patients can achieve remarkable and enduring results over time.

Candidates

All candidates for our exosome therapy should be in good overall health, free from any underlying medical conditions that may impede their treatment. It is also important that realistic expectations are held regarding what this treatment can accomplish. Suitable candidates for exosome therapy include those experiencing thinning, shedding, or balding in various areas of their head or scalp. Exosome therapy is ideal for patients who have not achieved their desired results during a previous restoration treatment or for individuals seeking a non-surgical solution. Ultimately, Dr. Tobbia will determine each patient’s eligibility during their personal consultation.

Advice and Treatment

The first step to achieving new and natural growth is attending a personal consultation at our office in Hamburg. Dr. Tobbia will discuss the details of the treatment with each patient before conversing openly with them about their medical history, concerns, and desired outcomes. Using this information, Dr. Tobbia will determine whether exosome therapy is the right treatment for their concerns.

Procedure

On the day of the procedure, our team takes the patient to a private area and cleanses and sanitizes their scalp. We apply a topical anesthetic to ensure a relaxing and pain-free treatment. Dr. Tobbia then injects the exosomes into the areas of the scalp experiencing hair loss or thinning. Treatment sessions vary in length depending on the size of the area, but most appointments last between 30 and 90 minutes

Recovery

As there is no downtime associated with our exosome treatment, patients will be free to return to their normal routines. It is common to experience effects such as swelling, itching, or redness near the injection sites; however, these effects are temporary and often dissipate on their own within several hours. Patients may be recommended to avoid washing their hair, using certain hair products, or engaging in strenuous physical activity for 24-48 hours after the treatment session. More detailed instructions will be provided during each patient’s personal consultation.

Results

Exosome hair restoration produces gradual, natural-looking results, as the treatment works to stimulate dormant hair follicles and improve overall scalp health over time. Patients typically notice initial signs of hair regrowth within a few weeks, while fuller and more noticeable results generally develop over two to three months. As hair density and thickness improve, patients often experience stronger, healthier hair that looks and feels better than before.

The effects of exosome therapy can be long-lasting, though results may vary depending on individual factors such as age, genetics, and the extent of hair loss. Some patients may benefit from follow-up treatments to maintain optimal results over time. Once new hair growth is established, patients can style, cut, or color their hair as desired, enjoying both aesthetic improvements and the confidence that comes with a fuller head of hair.

Corresponding Procedures

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PRP therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses the patient’s own platelets to stimulate tissue repair and hair or skin rejuvenation. For hair restoration, Dr. Tobbia can inject PRP into the scalp to promote hair follicle activity, improve hair density, and strengthen existing hair. This minimally invasive therapy is often combined with microneedling or exosome treatments to enhance overall results, providing a natural, autologous solution for both hair and skin rejuvenation.

Microneedling with Stem Cells

Microneedling with stem cells is a facial rejuvenation procedure designed to stimulate the body’s natural healing response by creating micropunctures in the skin. This treatment is designed to help enhance the skin’s texture, tone, and firmness, while also providing anti-aging benefits such as a reduction in wrinkles and creases. We combine this procedure with the use of adipose-derived stem cells to enhance the body’s production of collagen, leading to more elastic, healthy, and younger-looking skin.

Exosomes for Skin Rejuvenation

Our practice can also apply exosomes to the skin to enhance its appearance and elasticity. When exosomes are applied to the skin, they facilitate wound healing, immune system support, and tissue regeneration. The particles help stimulate the production of collagen, which is responsible for youthful-looking and healthy skin, and is often applied after another skin treatment to optimize its effectiveness.
